A handful of young revolutionaries gather in Gyurgevo, on free Romanian soil, and draw up a plan for the liberation of enslaved Bulgaria. Hristo Botev, poet, newspaperman and teacher, throws down his pen and leads two hundred young men to the aid of his rebel brothers.
