Years into their relationship, Tim and Millie find themselves at a crossroads as they move to the country, abandoning all that is familiar in their lives except each other. With tensions already flaring, a nightmarish encounter with a mysterious, unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love, and their flesh.

Real-Life Couple Chemistry: Alison Brie and Dave Franco, who portray a couple in the film, are actually married in real life, bringing a unique and authentic chemistry to their roles. Director Michael Shanks has stated that he could not have done it without a real-life married couple.
Genital Props: Michael Shanks' partner, who worked for a sex toy company, provided free, lifelike prop genitalia for the scene where Brie and Franco's characters get stuck together.
The Agony of Being Stuck: During filming, Brie and Franco had to wear a prosthetic that conjoined their arms for hours, forcing them to use the restroom together.
Visual Effects Wizardry: Director Michael Shanks, with a background in visual effects, personally created about 130 of the film's 170 visual effects shots due to budget constraints. Frame Store Melbourne created the final transformation sequences.
"Tillie": According to Alison Brie, the combined form of Tim and Millie at the end of the film is affectionately called "Tillie". The final shot was achieved by filming an 'A' plate of Brie and a 'B' plate of Franco and combining the two.
