Wicked: For Good (2025)

As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba will need to come together one final time. With their singular friendship now the fulcrum of their futures, they will need to truly see each other, with honesty and empathy, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good.

Revolutionary Live Singing: Director Jon M. Chu insisted that Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo sing live during filming, a departure from traditional movie musicals. This captured the raw emotion of their performances, even during complex scenes like Erivo performing "Defying Gravity" upside down.
Emerald City's Lengthy Construction: The Emerald City set presented a significant design challenge, taking 15 weeks to complete. Production designer Nathan Crowley aimed to create something unexpected yet recognizable, evoking a whimsical dream.
Dorothy's Subtlety: While Dorothy Gale appears in "Wicked: For Good," her role is minimized, with actress Bethany Weaver cast but her face not directly shown. This decision allows audiences to keep "the Dorothy that they know" while offering an alternative perspective on the events of Oz.
From Green to Glinda: The transformation into Elphaba required a detailed process, including airbrushed makeup with a custom shade called "Cynthia Green", stenciled freckles, and prosthetic ears. In contrast, Ariana Grande's Glinda look focused on a natural sheen, cat-eye lashes, and tattoo concealing base.
Tulip Mania: To create Munchkinland's vibrant landscape, the filmmakers planted nine million real tulips. This massive undertaking brought a natural, magical quality to the film's opening scenes that CGI couldn't replicate.
