Return to the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games for the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.

Haymitch's "Sweetheart" Origin: The sarcastic nickname Haymitch uses for Katniss in the original trilogy has a heartbreaking origin. In 'Sunrise on the Reaping,' Haymitch uses the same term of endearment for Louella McCoy, a young, tough tribute from District 12, revealing a deeper, affectionate side to his gruff exterior.
Mockingjay's First Owner: The iconic Mockingjay pin, a symbol of rebellion, was first owned by Maysilee Donner, Haymitch's fellow District 12 tribute. She doesn't fully appreciate its significance, viewing mockingjays as "half mutt". The pin eventually makes its way to Katniss through a poignant connection.
