Two nine-year-old girls—rude Luise Palfy and respectful shy Lotte Körner—meet on a summer camp. Apart from their different hair-do, they look alike. They have never seen each other before, but soon find out that they are identical twins. It turns out that their parents divorced, each keeping one of the girls. They decide to trade places at the end of the summer. Lottie curls her hair, Lisa braids hers, and both go off to where they have never been before. The adventure begins.

The impoverished Count Lerchenau works under the name Rudi Lindt as a chauffeur. Because he is so well-loved by women, he lost his last position. His former servant Franz has not abandoned him in his time of need and the servant keeps trying to find a rich bride for the former Count. In the Grand Hotel, where the Count is supposed to be finding a suitable mate, he instead flirts with the attractive Alice. In order to get a job with the employer Ottokar Frühwirt, Rudi uses Count Lerchenau as a reference. But then the employer wants to speak with Lerchenau and Franz has to play the role of the Count. Alice, it turns out, is the employer's niece. When she finds out that Rudi is only a chauffeur, she wants nothing to do with him.

His friend and colleague Franz gets him a new job at Bernhard Münchow's remote auto repair shop, where Otto is safe from Mila for the time being. But then he falls in love with Käthe, the daughter of the owner of the shipyard “Zum grauen Hecht,” and finds a bitter enemy in Ladewig, who is also in love with Käthe and who puts Mila back on Otto's trail. Filming began during WWII in Germany, but production was stopped because story showed Third Reich police and military having problems coping with an elephant stampede; after the War, it got completed by its originator, and exported to the US with English dubbed, while removing all references to its 1940s German origins!

"Wunderbar" takes on a new meaning in this routine satire by Bernhard Wicki about a bar that is miraculously transported by God Himself to a nearby, new location on an island. The nature of the miracle is a bit strange, but it comes in answer to Pater Malachias' prayers to get the sin-ridden place out of the center of the city. The good and naive Malachias is subtly played by Horst Bollimann. Once this miracle of relocation has occurred, the sharks and entrepreneurs, who would bilk both the faithful and the curiosity-seekers alike, crop up like an unwanted epidemic. The mercenary and the sacred clash, as many try to find deeper meaning in what has happened, and Pater Malachias starts to doubt the wisdom of his original prayer.
