Super Guitar Trio brings together three legends of jazz guitar: Larry Coryell, Al Di Meola & Biréli LagrÃ¨ne. These three virtuoso musicians have collaborated at various times in their career, but this concert from 1989 comes from the only tour they have done together as a trio. They perform a mixture of tracks from each of their solo repertoire plus special arrangements of some of their favorite tracks by other artists. For jazz musicians, playing at Montreux is always a highlight and the three guitarists are clearly inspired by playing together in the unique Montreux atmosphere.

Biréli Lagrène is a regular at the Au Grès du Jazz festival, which takes place in La Petite Pierre, in the Vosges. He has been on stage for the past 40 years and has played with Benny Carter, Cream or Elvin Jones. Kyle Eastwood began his career in the 90’s in L.A. and New York and has already produced 8 albums. Jean-Luc Ponty, a living legend of jazz-rock, has played next to Frank Zappa and Elton John.

Häns'sche Weiss, who passed away last year, was one of the greatest representatives of gypsy jazz. For French guitar virtuoso Biréli Lagrène, he was even the decisive inspiration for learning to play the guitar. Weiss's longtime bassist, Vali Mayer from Zurich, and guitarist Holzmanno Winterstein invite Biréli Lagrène as a guest of honor to revive the musical works of Häns'sche Weiss. A tribute to gypsy jazz!

The entire concert of Biréli Lagrène given at the Festival of Vienna 2002. On July 9, 2002, the Jazz Festival in Vienna was a great night of gypsy jazz. It was a sold-out show, with eight thousand people packed on the stone steps of the sumptuous Theater Antique. They came to admire the greatest prodigies of this music, since the passing of the master, Django. Surrounded by his good friends - bassist Diego Imbert, rhythm guitarists Hono Winterstein and Thomas Dutronc, and violinist Florin Niculescu - Biréli Lagrène plays with stellar musical technique, virtuosity, speed, and great emotion.
