On New Year's Eve in 1944, two men meet in the middle of a snowstorm in a cottage cut off from civilization - a widower, Petr Bernat, and an SS officer, Konrad Neumann. A loose continuation of the cases of our murder squad in the films Škodná and Hrobník. The new film not only deals with the murder of a psychologist, reminiscent in some respects of a deviant crime with bizarre ritual elements. We also follow the fate of Drobný, a recently released prisoner who is convinced that he has a profound reason to hate the psychologist and take revenge on her. Gradually, he finds himself in the position of a cornered animal, which only intensifies his desire for harsh retribution. The first storyline of the film is purely detective-like, while Drobný's story is more in the style of a gritty crime thriller.

"A documentary anatomy of mass murder for one monitor and 34 talking heads." These are the words the filmmakers use in the credits to describe their project, which thematises the execution of more than 260 Carpathian Germans, Hungarians and Slovaks by Czechoslovak army soldiers near Přerov in June 1945. The “massacre at Přerov” is made present through a minimalist dramatisation of the interrogation footage of direct participants, eyewitnesses, and others. It is as if the characters of ancient theatre were entering the Zoom “stage” and delivering a tragic message of fear, hatred and disinterest across the chasm of time.

The story is based on Operation Stone, during which State Security agents deliberately misled citizens of the Czechoslovak Republic who were attempting to leave the country illegally by creating fake borders and fake border patrols and interrogation teams from American, German, and French authorities. Berlin in the 1920s is a vibrant metropolis. After the horrors of the First World War, people seek their fortune at parties, in glittering variety theaters and dance halls. So-called "ring clubs" dominate the world of crime. When Inspector Paul Lang finds his friend, public prosecutor Barnekow, dead in the crocodile pool of the Tiergarten, the mastermind seems clear, at least to him: the murder clearly bears the signature of Immanuel Tauss, the former head of the gangster ring "The Crocodiles". But Lang's biggest adversary, Tauss, is in prison. Together with his assistant Conrad Ruppert and his secretary, Lang sets about solving the case and encounters the unscrupulous up-and-comer Viktor Parkov and the fascinating vaudeville owner Irma Berger in Berlin's night world. Another corpse opens up a surprising twist, but Lang is already deeply entangled in his personal duel with Tauss - and himself.
