A socially realistic youth film whose story falls into two parts. The first part tells the story of Harry, who, after serving a prison sentence for drug dealing, sets out to find his old girlfriend Eva. During his search, he is once again caught up in the drug scene. He does meet a new girl who has a positive influence on him, but she dumps him. In the second part of the story, Harry finds Eva, and they resume their relationship.

Tonnemann lives in one of the wooden sheds at the far end of Islands Brygge, close to Copenhagen's landfill site. But in 1928, he wants to leave this environment behind – to go where the air is fresh and life may offer both security and meaning.
