They're brought to an ancient war museum in Cambodia, which was used as a Khmer Rouge prison twenty years before. Thousands of innocent people were tortured and killed there during the Cambodian war in the 1970s.

Pimdao, a successful real estate developer and businesswoman, is injured in an accident that kills her beloved daughter at a time when the two are estranged. After the accident, Pimdao decides to take her daughter's place as a volunteer at an impoverished rural school in Chiang Rai, keeping her identity a secret.
