Petr studies law in Prague, Jakub studies philosophy there. They are the best of friends until their holiday trip to Slovakia is crossed by a Romani young man named Imro. The story of the black Christmas comedy Doblba! takes place in the extended Muk family. Slovak director Karpatti arrives in Prague to make a name for himself. He has brought all his belongings with him, as he can no longer show his face in Bratislava. Meanwhile, on the roof of an apartment building in Pankrác, Hrubeš and Mareš spit from the seventeenth floor, planning to become important film professionals and longing for love. Then Mareš's grandmother dies, Hrubeš is kicked out of his house by his father, and eleven terminally ill patients do not die. Václav Hrubeš meets President Klaus, and Josef Mareš finds a girlfriend, but for money. At the end, the power goes out for ten minutes throughout Prague 4, and Viliam Karpatti receives an award at the Jihlava Film Festival. It rains for the entire last ten minutes of the film, and planes hover over Prague like phantoms.

It all begins at Prague Airport, where American agents have brought Major Maisner, who has been expelled from the United States, in handcuffs. He returns to his place of work, the Central Police Academy, despite having been demoted to lieutenant for his "performance" and his position as academy commander having been taken over by the newly promoted Captain Hrubec. Maisner meets his former students, who now teach at the school. They all welcome him enthusiastically and receive gifts from him. While psychologist Kudláková, who is attracted to commanding types, has lost interest in the demoted Maisner and is now passionately in love with Hrubec, Boženka Vinklářová, who has broken up with the gypsy Štefan and now teaches dactyloscopy at the school, focuses her attention on him. Maisner recounts how he jumped off a skyscraper in America to defend himself against Simona Ptáčková's advances.

“The fact that I’m playing myself doesn’t mean that it’s me.” Four old schoolmates, today well-known Czech actors (Pavel Liška, Tomáš Matonoha, Josef Polášek and Marek Daniel), decide to make a movie together. Their ambitious colleague Jan Budař takes up directing duties and financing has arrived from Poland. What started out pleasantly enough, however, soon goes awry. Liška’s pronunciation difficulties, Daniel’s alter ego Havlát, and Matonoha’s financial machinations turn the shoot into a fight for survival. More than just a film about friendship and the absurdity of actors’ lives, director Marek Najbrt gives us a witty meditation on reality and illusion, and a unique take on the reality film genre. One of Pavel Liška’s on-set comments (“I didn’t know if I should act as if I were acting, or act as if I weren’t acting, or just not act at all”) illustrates the provocative nature of Najbrt’s subversive, quasi-documentary game.

In the royal castle, Prince Matthias feels like a prisoner. His father forces him to get engaged to Princess Beatrix, whom he does not love. Matthias takes advantage of a chance encounter with the rogue Tomas, who is his identical double. The boys swap clothes and agree to try on each other's lives for a day. In the morning, Matej is wrongly accused of theft and imprisoned. Tomas has to stay in the castle and although he tries to convince the king that he is not the true prince, no one believes him. The two boys must face a world they have never known before, grow up and learn to take responsibility for their decisions. Their reward will be that they both find true love.
