For fans of history, this glimpse of Munich society in the 1920s will be a much-treasured event. The story revolves around an art-gallery manager who puts on a show featuring the scandalous works of a woman artist who committed suicide. He is unjustly accused of having committed adultery with her, and for some reason the authorities decide to make an example of him. He is imprisoned at about the same time that Hitler and the nascent Nazi party attempt the infamous Beer Hall Putsch, and the gallery manager's girlfriend and a Swiss writer valiantly (and unsuccessfully) attempt to get better justice for him. Nobody in authority, it seems, has the courage to take up the challenge of righting this particular injustice.

The marriage crisis between Annabelle and Friedrich Schrader is barely over when Annabelle's mother Edda causes a stir with her late marriage plans. Edda has fallen in love with her rich classmate Martin Bergmann. When he turns out to be an impostor, the excitement is great. After all, Martin has boastfully announced that he will grant Annabelle and Friedrich an interest-free loan with which they can finance their dream home. The old Flender farmer wants to force his daughter Wally into a marriage of convenience with her childhood sweetheart, the wealthy farmer Josef Gruber. This is the only way to save the Flenders' heavily indebted farm. But the stubborn daughter resists the courtship of Josef, who has serious intentions. At the shooting festival, Wally and her suitor get into a bitter argument, during which the wealthy farmer insults the unruly girl as "Geierwally", referring to her tame, hand-reared golden eagle. Deeply disappointed by her father's intrigues and the wrath of her old love, Wally seeks refuge in a lonely mountain hut. But Josef does not give up so easily. He has his heart set on winning the heart of Geierwally after all.

Several young girls were killed in a rural area. Thus Inspector Matthaei has to travel to the region where it happened and has to search for the killer. When all the people suspect a roamer to be the killer he gets lynched and everybody thinks that the crimes will stop now but not Matthaei who searches for a blond girl that looks just like the ones that were murdered.
