In a tiny town in an unnamed Latin American country in the 1930s, a young telegraph operator helps link the small, repressed community to the outside world, against the will of the powerful colonel who rules the village like a dictator.

Verónica Bruzual, a member of the Youth Brigade of the Police Investigations Directorate, changes her name to find out the causes and perpetrators of her father's murder and her brother's disappearance. Two cases, seemingly unrelated to her investigation, put her on the trail of a powerful criminal organization. She ultimately discovers that this organization, which includes her father's right-hand man, is responsible for the tragedy that befell her family.
