A violent supermarket incident involving a refugee in East Germany is reenacted in a film studio. Ten citizens observe and comment on the case, which highlights the blurred distinction between civil courage and vigilante justice.

Taleb, who came to a refugee camp at the age of five in 1975 and returned there after his studies abroad, tells of his life as a displaced person, his gratitude for the reception and support in Algeria, and his hope that the Sahrawis may one day return to their homeland. For Taleb, this hope drives him to actively prepare for better times: as a graduate in agricultural sciences, he conceived a successful small-scale closed-loop economy in a desert under the most difficult conditions, producing enough food for self-sufficiency.

On January 7th 2005 an asylum seeker, shackled at his hands and feet, dies in a fire in cell number five of a police station in Dessau, Germany. With "Cell 5" Mario Pfeifer reconstructs the case of Oury Jalloh's death using legal documents, testimonies, audio-visual archives, and collaborates with the forensic expert Iain Peck to reproduce an accurate fire experiment. All in an attempt to answer: How could Oury Jalloh burn to death?

Reconsidering The new Industrial Parks near Irvine, California by Lewis Baltz, 1974 revisits one of the industrial structures Lewis Baltz documented in his historic "New Topographics" from the outside and depicts the interior setting of a metal workshop with an eleven minute tracking shot. During this time, the 1974 book version has been reconsidered from back to front, each turning page a montage within the continuous 16mm black and white footage. An interview with J.R. Billington, a company owner in this building for nineteen years, discusses the socio-economical situation in military manufacturing in Orange County in the 1980's and today.
