Keeping Up with the Joneses: Men’s Styles (1915)
A domestic comedy about the McGinis family—husband Aloysius, wife Clarice, daughter Julie, and housemaid Belladonna. The simple story lines often parody society's concern with material goods as an indicator of social standing, but the series was not as narrowly focused as the title implies. The Joneses were the McGinis's neighbors, but were not depicted. They were referred to as objects of envy, with whom the McGinis family was "trying to keep up." In this film, Pa McGinis decides to buy a new hat.

With Captain Scott in the Antarctic (1912)
Filmed by Herbert G. Ponting during Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s ill-fated Terra Nova Expedition (1910–1913), this 1912 documentary presented British audiences with the first moving pictures of Antarctica. Sponsored and distributed by Gaumont, the multi-reel program showed the Terra Nova ship, the Cape Evans base camp, daily routines of the expedition team, Antarctic wildlife, and striking scenes of the ice landscape. Released in London in 1912—before news of Scott’s death reached Britain—it became enormously popular, combining scientific record with patriotic spectacle.
