Storm Cloud is a popular Wuxia (martial arts) comics created by famous comic artist-writer- publisher Ma Wing Shing in 1989. The story revolves around 2 protagonists – Nip Fung and Bo King Wan, who learn martial arts at a young age and grow up to become legendary fighters. From 1989 to 2014, a total of 675 chapters have been published. The story has been adapted into films, The Storm Riders (1998) and The Storm Warriors (2009), and has been converted into different media throughout the 1990s and 2000s, such as online video game, TV series, radio drama and novels. Now, a new chapter of the Storm Cloud in 3D will once again be brought to the silver screen by the most talented production team of the film industry.

Based on a real case, A Life of Papers tells the story of the 82-year-old Chu, a “cardboard granny” who makes her living by collecting waste cardboard boxes and selling them to recyclers at as low as HK$1 per kilogram. Under-privileged and oppressed, Chu almost consistently runs into conflicts with the merciless law enforcers, as well as the blood-thirsty press. The film also depicts her bonding with two other persons: a 10-year-old AD/HD kid and Ling, her long-time crippled mate whom everyone believes to be her husband but what lies behind is a Platonic relationship of secret intimacy and loving care. Chu’s story also affects the young soul of the ambitious and fame-driven reporter, Heidi.

Long has two sons. His adopted son Fei helps him run his tiny store that sells charcoal grilled egg puffs. His own son Ho was a hairstylist and is now a not-so-successful financial practitioner. Ho hates egg puffs and wants to sell the shop under the stairs. Fei doesn’t want Ho to get his wish while Long only wants to pass on his trade. With conflicting agendas, father and sons soon became estranged from one another. When Long suddenly dies of a heart attack, the sons decide to throw in the towel. Different accounts from their father’s customers enabled the brothers to become re-acquainted with the father they didn’t really know and get a new perspective on life.
