Both The Grissom Gang and the original No Orchids For Miss Blandish were inspired by the best-seller by James Hadley Chase, though neither film retains Chase's original ending.

In the end, the knight understands that not everything can be solved with a sword, and Vincent realizes that evil must be fought. The love of the beautiful princess and half the kingdom is then the natural reward.
