The ABCs of Book Banning (2024)
In recent years, more than 2,500 books have been removed from school districts around the US, labeled as banned, restricted, or challenged, and made unavailable to millions of students. By no accident, the themes targeted are the usual scapegoats of the American Right—LGBTQ+ issues, Black History, and women’s empowerment—impeding the power of future generations to develop their own thoughts and opinions on critical social issues. By weaving together a lyrical montage of young readers and authors, THE ABCs OF BOOK BANNING reveals the voices of the impacted parties, and inspires hope for the future through the profound insights of inquisitive youthful minds.

The Devil's Toy (1966)
This short 1966 documentary dedicated "to all victims of intolerance” depicts the dawn of skateboarding in Montreal. A new activity frowned upon by police and adults, skateboarding gave youngsters a thrilling sensation of speed and freedom. This film - the first Canadian documentary ever made about the sport - captures the exuberance of boys and girls having the time of their lives in free-wheeling downhill locomotion. Jutra's 1966 mockumentary film The Devil's Toy (Rouli-roulant), is a faux-anti-skateboarding propaganda film.

The Sex Shogun of Shinjuku (1995)
"This world of porn exists to make everyone happy," says Touru Muranishi, 49, Japan's leading pornographer. Acting as producer, director, cameraman and star, his motto is 'real sex with real women in real places'. Despite Japan's stringent censorship laws, Muranishi has been phenomenally successful, making and broadcasting 15 films a month on his own satellite channel. His 'documentary' porn films provide a fascinating insight into male chauvinism in the land of the geisha girl. Heavily made-up glamour models are a definite turn-off. Instead, the women should have the face of a 'princess' and the body of a whore. But despite Touru's insistence on 'real' sex, his films show that in Japan, as in the rest of the world, adult videos reveal male fantasies, not female desire.

Waterloo (1957)
However impressive the site is, however bossy the guides are, the visitors of the Musée Napoléon listen only absent-mindedly. Does this young lady really care about the tragic destiny of emperor Napoleon or Europe's changing face or isn't she more interested in her won reflection in a window case?
