Petra wants to enjoy one last love affair with Dieter before the wedding. After a passionate kiss, they are both thrown back to 1972. Dieter, who regains consciousness in a shared flat in Berlin, finds out that Petra is in Munich, whereupon he sets off to find her. His journey holds many a bizarre adventure, such as a meeting with his young hippie parents.

A repellent and fascinating depiction of the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, along with Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco and the East Village in New York. Tiny Tim amounts to something resembling a recurring motif and narrator.

She's missing work more and more often, Jeannie wants out of the life, Jimmy is going through withdrawal, and Pam is in the middle of a maelstrom. Is there any exit for Pam?
