The Revolution Will Not Be Televised (2003)
Hugo Chavez was a colourful, unpredictable folk hero who was beloved by his nation’s working class. He was elected president of Venezuela in 1998, and proved to be a tough, quixotic opponent to the power structure that wanted to depose him. When he was forcibly removed from office on 11 April 2002, two independent filmmakers were inside the presidential palace.

Working for Labour (1998)
No film-maker has ever before been given permission to follow a Dutch election campaign with the camera. On the basis of a few contractual conditions, film-maker Niek Koppen was given a glimpse into the 'kitchen' of the Labour Party election campaign in 1998. From the making of the publicity photos by Anton Corbijn to the celebration of the election victory on 6 May 1998. In the Prime Minister's residence, Koppen recorded how decisions were taken during intimate discussions, phone calls and meals. The film focuses on the arduous cooperation between the veterans Wim Kok and Jacques Wallage and the much younger campaign director Karin Adelmund. De keuken van Kok (Working for Labour) provides a picture of the emotions, ambitions, tactics and the ups and downs of a long and tiring process. (filmcommission.nl)

A Labor of Love (1976)
In 1975, Chicago filmmakers Flaxman and Goldman got carte blanche to film the shooting of a local film called THE LAST AFFAIR. Neither AFFAIR's director (who envisioned the film as "a combination of Fellini and Bergman") nor its cast (which included then-unknowns Betty Thomas and Ron Dean) had ever worked in the industry before. Made in the classic cinema-verité style of Drew and Leacock, A LABOR OF LOVE is a revealing and often hilarious exposé of the hidden side of adult film: onscreen partners despise each other offscreen, male performers can't "get wood," an actress has her period, Ivory Liquid is substituted for semen, and the director declares, "I really dislike every minute of this!" "A Good Man" (2026)
In the short documentary “A Good Man”, the topic of masculinity is explored through the lens of a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym in Rotterdam-West, a place where men come together to train, reflect, and connect. The story unfolds against the backdrop of a high-pressure, fast-moving society. While following everyday training, belt promotions, and the tension of tournaments, the film sketches a quiet contrast between the rougher character of the sport and the softer sides of its practitioners: moments of care, openness, and vulnerability. “A Good Man” does not claim to hold the answers, but shows that there are many ways to become one. It invites you to step onto the mat and ask yourself: what is your place in society?

Harriet at Play
70s Butlins documentary, part of a series of films directed by Tony Palmer, which was announced in The Stage [The Stage, 25 July 1974, p.14] "Tony Palmer is directing a new series with Harriet Crawley which will be seen in the HTV area. Tentatively titled Harriet, it will feature Miss Crawley in a number of roles each of which, as it were, puts her on the spot. For example, she will go up (and down) with a group of sky divers, work with an elephant trainer in a circus, become an operatic soprano (she will actually sing in a performance of Carmen), and for a time be a hell's angel's moll. Patrick Dromgoole is the executive producer of this one."
