The 50s were hard years for the majority of the population in the Basque Country, and the Zelaia family were no exception. They are the owners of a big hotel at a time when tourism is flagging, on top of being identified with the losing side during the war. Conversely, the mayor, Luis Egaña, shows the other side of the coin.
