The Traitors (2023)

The entertainment industry’s most competitive reality stars and famous faces play the ultimate murder mystery game. Hosted by award-winning actor Alan Cumming at an ancient castle set deep in the Scottish Highlands, contestants work together on a series of exhilarating missions to build a prize fund worth up to $250,000. Hidden amongst the Faithful are the Traitors, whose goal is to eliminate the Faithful and claim the prize for themselves.

Claudia's Traitor Picks: Host Claudia Winkleman personally chooses the Traitors, and contestants can influence her decision when they initially meet her.
Hunger Games Inspiration: Before each banishment, the cast listens to "The Hanging Tree" from The Hunger Games soundtrack to set a suppressive and theatrical mood.
Castle Secrets: While filmed at Ardross Castle, contestants don't sleep there; they stay in a hotel near Inverness Airport. The castle's accessible areas are limited to the library, bar, billiards room, and roundtable room, with the rest filled with production equipment.
Strategic Casting: The US version intentionally mixes reality TV veterans with ordinary people to create a dynamic where anything can happen. Producers believed that casting competition reality show veterans would up the stakes of the game play overall.
Breakfast Deception: The elaborate breakfast spread seen each morning is actually stale; it's part of the set dressing. Contestants are served delicious and varied food, with everyone's diets and tastes accounted for, but not the breakfast on display.
