A young group of cadets come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Honoring the Past: The Starfleet Academy includes a "Wall of Heroes" featuring names from across Star Trek history, including Admiral Harry Kim. There's also the Sato Atrium and Uhura Pavilion, honoring those who came before.

The Doctor Is In (Again!): Robert Picardo reprises his role as the Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH), The Doctor, from Star Trek: Voyager. He now serves as a mentor figure and instructor at Starfleet Academy.
A Troubled Timeline: Starfleet Academy is set in the 32nd century, 125 years after "The Burn," a catastrophic event that hobbled the Federation. The cadets represent a fresh start for the Federation, belonging to the first Starfleet Academy class since this devastating event.
