Raul Vasconcelos and Helena Brito founded a partnership over 20 years ago and has over a hundred lawyers in its service. Raul has an ego as big as the world and it was that self-assuredness that made him notorious in the courtroom. Besides being an astute lawyer, he’s a hopeless playboy who with age developed the tendency to say and do whatever he feels like. His trouble is that he’s constantly abusing that privilege. Helena is a confident woman, albeit more discreet and concerned about the firm's public perception, constantly considering how her actions might negatively affect the partnership and its bottom line. Her personality led her to take over managing the firm, taking care of all bureaucratic affairs. Other lawyers stand out in the firm, as is the case of Pedro Pimentel, who just made senior partner. He’s impeccably put together and has a smile that wins over most women, but behind this agreeable façade of his there’s a person with a lust for power and fame.

Sofia, represents "Carla," a man who has undergone a sex change operation, and who wants to change her birth certificate. Pedro is called with urgency to the Lisbon airport, where his cousin and his wife were prohibited from boarding by a court order. Afonso, gives legal support to a woman who wants to lodge an appeal that she had lost in the first instance, a lawsuit against her husband who had kidnapped her and that the judge had released on the grounds that she had missed on her marital duties.

Raul shows once again that it is willing to do anything to win. Jorge is pressured by a group of environmentalists who submitted an injunction against the construction of a golf course, to bribe them, ordering the company of one of them, the study of the environmental impact of the project. Raul, cunning, asks Francisco to do the task of talking with the environmentalists, and convinces Pedro to stay with the case that the intern had in hand telling that that was a case not so important. and it wasn't It was just a simple dispute between neighbors because of clothes.

Pedro always whining that he has no important cases, receives a man who complains of having been bitten by a dog and, therefore, wants to sue the owner of the animal.

Afonso has more litmus tests in the relationship with the his son who wants to go to a wrestling show. Afonso tries to talk him causing another fight. Ahead the lawyer has the tough task of representing a man marked by a history of drug abuse and by a succession of tragedies. The woman died and shortly afterwards, the oldest daughter died in a car accident. On the other hand Sofia Barreto can successfully complete an adoption process, but the main difficulty of this case is yet to come because the adoptive parents, against what is prescribed by law, want to change the girl's name. Pedro Pimentel defends a novice in a case of misuse of a credit card. The sister allegedly has spent money - on a sex-shop.

Early in the morning. Sofia's courage will again be put to the test to defend a girl who abandoned her daughter soon after giving birth and is now accused of the death of the newborn. Afonso Ferraz will restore the hope of a desperate woman by the difficulties of sustaining two sons whose father refuses to pay the pension decreed by the court. Pedro tells Vera (the new intern) to collect evidence to prove that a couple lived together despite not being married. Meanwhile, Pedro is busy following Helena who has been negotiating with the Spanish the sale of the company. Pedro discovers the secret and says that he will not say a word to anyone, only at the first chance he runs to warn Raul.
