All Her Fault (2025)

In Chicago, Marissa Irvine arrives at 14 Arthur Avenue, expecting to pick up her young son Milo from his first playdate with a boy at his new school. But the woman who answers the door isn't a mother she recognizes. She isn't the nanny. She doesn't have Milo. And so begins every parent's worst nightmare.

Although the series is set in Chicago, Illinois, most of the filming took place in Melbourne, Australia, and other regions of Victoria. The production team used the urban and suburban landscapes of Melbourne to recreate the look and feel of an American neighborhood.
Jake Lacy, who plays Peter Irvine, revealed that he and Sarah Snook (Marissa Irvine) would play music on set to pass the time. Snook played the ukulele, while Lacy played a "junkie little guitar," and they would harmonize without judgment.
All Her Fault is inspired by a real-life experience of author Andrea Mara, who also serves as an associate producer on the show. She once arrived at an address to collect her child after a playdate, only to find the family had moved away. This event sparked the idea for her novel, though the series adds fictional drama and mystery elements.
Showrunner Megan Gallagher shifted the setting from Dublin, Ireland (where the book takes place) to Chicago, believing the themes of maternal guilt and societal pressures are universally understood. She also drew from her own experiences as a working mother, stating she "nearly hospitalized myself with exhaustion" trying to do it all.
In a departure from the novel, the character of Detective McConville was gender-swapped for the show. Michael Peña was cast as Detective Alcaras, and the series delves into his personal life, exploring his struggles as a parent of a child with special needs, a storyline not present in the book.
