From Hallmark to Netflix: Originally developed for Hallmark+, 'Ripple' was picked up by Netflix and premiered on the streaming service on December 3, 2025. This change in platform allowed the show to reach a broader audience.
Toronto Doubles as NYC: Although the series is set in New York City, filming primarily took place in Ontario, Canada, specifically in and around Toronto. The production team used Toronto's diverse landscapes to mimic the Big Apple, even transforming a local park to resemble Central Park.
'PLL' Easter Egg: Ian Harding, known for his role in 'Pretty Little Liars', tried to include a nod to his 'PLL' fanbase. Harding's character, Nate, interacts with a character named Aria (played by Sydney Agudong), and Harding attempted to slip in a line saying, "I love that name" as a wink to his 'PLL' co-star Lucy Hale, who also played a character named Aria.
Character Name Origins: The show's creator, Michele Giannusa, revealed that the names of the four main characters (Walter, Kris, Nate, and Aria) were nods to characters from her favorite drama series. Aria is a version of Arya from 'Game of Thrones', Walter is Walter White from 'Breaking Bad', Nate is from 'Six Feet Under', and Kris is from 'Parenthood'.
Learning ASL: Vanessa Smythe, who plays Claire in 'Ripple', learned American Sign Language (ASL) for her role. She collaborated with interpreters and connected deeply with her co-star, who portrayed her TV daughter, to ensure authenticity and inclusivity in her performance.
