Robin Hood (2025)

A modern reimagining of the classic tale. After the Norman invasion of England, Rob, a Saxon forester’s son, and Marian, a Norman lord’s daughter, fall in love and unite to fight for justice, challenge corruption, and restore peace to the land.

Australian Robin: The producers were keen on casting an unknown actor as Robin Hood to offer a fresh perspective, and they had a preference for an Australian actor, ultimately casting Jack Patten. This is a nod to Errol Flynn, who famously played Robin Hood in The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) and was also Australian.
Serbia as Sherwood: While the story is set in Nottingham, England, the entire series was filmed in Serbia. The Serbian landscape and film industry infrastructure allowed for the creation of elaborate sets and provided suitable forests for Sherwood.
Romeo and Juliet Vibe: The series emphasizes the romance between Robin and Marian, adding a "Romeo and Juliet" element to their relationship. Marian is the daughter of a Norman lord, while Robin is a Saxon, placing them on opposite sides of the Norman-Saxon conflict.
Sean Bean's Fate: Given Sean Bean's history of characters meeting untimely ends, fans are particularly curious whether the Sheriff of Nottingham will survive the series.
Priscilla's Modern Twist: A new character, Priscilla of Nottingham, the Sheriff's daughter, is introduced, and she embodies a very modern 2025 woman. She inspires Marian to be more outspoken and assertive.
