The Lowdown (2025)

Follow the gritty exploits of citizen journalist Lee Raybon, a self-proclaimed Tulsa "truthstorian" whose obsession with the truth is always getting him into trouble.

Tulsa's Truth: The series is set and filmed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with creator Sterlin Harjo emphasizing the city's unique character and history as integral to the show. Harjo felt Tulsa had the right amount of grit, history, and secrets to set the neo-noir story in.
Real-Life Inspiration: Ethan Hawke's character, Lee Raybon, is loosely based on Lee Roy Chapman, an Oklahoma journalist and historian known for his investigative work on Tulsa's racial history.
Crossover Cameos: "The Lowdown" exists within the same fictional universe as Sterlin Harjo's other FX series, "Reservation Dogs". Paulina Alexis, who played Willie Jack in Reservation Dogs, makes a cameo in the pilot episode of The Lowdown. Devery Jacobs from Reservation Dogs also appeared in a make-up tutorial video within the show.
Hawke's Dedication: Ethan Hawke was very involved in creating his character's "beat up" look, fully embracing the physical demands of the role. The makeup department head noted that Hawke was enthusiastic and collaborative throughout the process.
Musical City: Several Oklahoma musicians are featured throughout the first season, some even appearing on screen in acting roles. These musicians add to the authenticity and local flavor of the series.
