Based on Real Events: The first season of Delhi Crime is based on the horrific 2012 Delhi gang rape case, offering a dramatized account of the police investigation that followed. The third season draws inspiration from the Baby Falak case of 2012, which exposed a child abuse and human trafficking network.
First Emmy Winner: Delhi Crime made history as the first Indian series to win the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series in November 2020. This recognition brought international attention to the show's compelling narrative and performances.
Character Inspiration: The character of Vartika Chaturvedi, played by Shefali Shah, is based on Chhaya Sharma, a former Deputy Commissioner of Police in Delhi. Richie Mehta, the writer and director, consulted with Sharma for months to gain her perspective on the crime and investigation.
