Dr Finlay's Casebook is a television series that was broadcast on the BBC from 1962 until 1971. Based on A. J. Cronin's novella ‘Country Doctor’, the storylines centred on a general medical practice in the fictional Scottish town of Tannochbrae during the late 1920s. Cronin was the primary writer for the show between 1962 and 1964.

Dr. Finlay concentrates on the case of a nervous novelist. Dr. Cameron tries his hand as an amateur electrician and Janet risks the fearful consequences.

A baby dies after Dr. Finlay persuades the mother to let him vaccinate her child. Meanwhile Craig, a Tannochbrae J.P., is campaigning against vaccination. The townspeople flock to support Craig - and cross to the other side when Dr. Finlay makes an appearance in the street.

For the first time the two doctors realise that bringing up one's 'own' child is rather different from advising mothers how to bring up theirs.
