Real Castle, Real School: The exterior shots of Maxton Hall were filmed at Marienburg Castle in Germany, a real 19th-century neo-Gothic castle. It was built as a birthday gift for Queen Marie of Hanover and now serves as the backdrop for the series.
German Production, English Setting: Although the series is a German production with German actors, "Maxton Hall" is set in England. The story takes place at a prestigious private school outside of London.
