Task (2025)

In the working-class suburbs of Philadelphia, an FBI agent heads a task force assembled to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man.

Mark Ruffalo's character, Tom Brandis, a former priest turned FBI agent, is loosely based on creator Brad Ingelsby's uncle, who also left the Augustinian church. Ruffalo took over the role after Michael Keaton had to withdraw from the project due to scheduling conflicts.
Fabien Frankel, who plays Detective Anthony Grasso, prepared for his role by training with the police force and learning how to handle weapons. He also got advice from Dave Obzud, the chief of police in Easttown and advisor for 'Mare of Easttown'.
The series was filmed in various locations throughout the Philadelphia region, including Marcus Hook, Media, and Ridley, with some scenes shot at local favorites like Rita's Italian Ice and Ralph's Italian Restaurant. The show incorporates regional favorites like Rita's Italian Ice and roast pork sandwiches with hot peppers and plenty of horseradish.
Creator Brad Ingelsby wrote all seven episodes of 'Task,' and the show is considered to be set in the same universe as his previous HBO hit, 'Mare of Easttown'. He also shared story credit on three episodes with David Obzud, 'Easttown's' real-life chief of police.
The showrunners emphasized realism by filming in actual homes in suburban Philadelphia and ensuring the actors spoke with authentic "Delco" accents. Fabien Frankel, who plays a young detective, said he used a lot of Philly slang in his role.
