The Killing is a Danish police procedural set in the Copenhagen main police department and revolves around Detective Inspector Sarah Lund and her team, with each season series following a different murder case day-by-day and a one-hour episode covering twenty-four hours of the investigation. The series is noted for its plot twists, season-long storylines, dark tone and for giving equal emphasis to the story of the murdered victim's family alongside the police investigation. It has also been singled out for the photography of its Danish setting, and for the acting ability of its cast.

Three young Danes are vacationing in Malta. In the basement of an old castle ruin, they find a finger ring and a stone sarcophagus, and accidentally loosen the chains that have sealed the sarcophagus. Count Dracula awakens in the coffin—and he wants his ring back! The vampire count follows the three tourists back to Denmark, leading to dramatic encounters in Copenhagen and Aalborg, and the series ends with a dramatic confrontation in Aarhus.

A road movie that tells the story of two very different young women, Charlot and Charlotte, who meet by chance and end up driving together across Denmark from Copenhagen to Skagen. Along the way, they meet a wide range of very different people, from the senile Birksted to the psychopathic mass murderer Poul-Teddy, to a theater troupe and the elderly residents of a nursing home run by a headstrong matron. The naive and provincial Charlotte learns spontaneity from the smart city girl Charlot, while Charlot, in turn, learns from Charlotte to appreciate the experiences close to home.
