The tragic story of the many lives of Father Dinis, his dark origins and his pious works, and the different fates of all those who, trapped in a sinister web of love, hate and crime, cross paths with him through years of adventure and misfortune in the convulsed Europe of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. Mrs. Hope is a charismatic octogenarian widow, living alone in a pleasant apartment in Lisbon along with her cat Baltazar, since her husband died, years ago. Mrs. Hope is not like some other older people. She likes ballroom dancing, aqua aerobics sports and from time to time visiting the neighborhood chapel to say goodbye to her old fellows who passed away letting escape some less orthodox comments that make laugh even the most serious. She had two sons, but only one is alive - Artur. He is married with Leonor and together they have a son Rodrigo, a wild teenager and the only Mrs. Hope grandson. Herminia is her best friend, but her truly fellow is Paulina, a bold Angolan woman, mother of the teenager Joyce that Mrs. Hope considers as her goddaughter.

The Dossiers of Inspector Lavardin is a French television series in four 90-minute episodes, created by Dominique Roulet and Claude Chabrol and broadcast between September 15, 1988 and February 1, 1990 on TF1. It follows the two films Chicken in Vinegar and Inspector Lavardin directed by Claude Chabrol and already featuring Jean Poiret in the role of Lavardin. This short series depicts the investigations of Inspector Lavardin, a tongue-in-cheek policeman known for his bad manners.
