Inti Flynn arrives in Scotland with her twin sister, Aggie, to spearhead a team of biologists tasked with reintroducing fourteen grey wolves into the secluded Highlands. Inti is driven not only by the ambition to revitalise the dying landscape but also by the desire to help her troubled sister, whose past secrets haunt them both. Inti is not the woman she once was, as she was changed by the harm she witnessed—inflicted by humans on both the wild and each other.
As the narrative progresses, the wolves surprise everyone by thriving, and Inti gradually lowers her defences, even entertaining the prospect of love. However, when a farmer is discovered dead, she faces the town’s inevitable blame, prompting her to take drastic measures to protect her wolves. “But if the wolves didn’t make the kill, then who did? And what will Inti do when the man she is falling for seems to be the prime suspect?
