CITV (1983)
CITV is a British children's morning programming block on ITV and previously a free-to-air channel owned by ITV plc. CITV, then Children's ITV, launched on 3 January 1983 as a late afternoon programming block on the ITV network for children aged 6–12. It replaced the earlier Watch It! branding and introduced networked in-vision continuity links between programmes. These links were originally pre-recorded from a small London studio up until 1987, when Central won the contract to produce live links from their Birmingham studios. In 2004, presentation of CITV was relocated to Granada Television in Manchester, which saw the demise of in-vision continuity. Nine years later, the operations moved to ITV Granada's MediaCityUK studios in Salford. In 2006, CITV launched as a digital channel on Freeview. The channel primarily ran repeated ITV content and acquisitions daily from 6:00am to 9:00pm.

To help celebrate ITV’s 60th anniversary Britain: As Seen on ITV tells the story of our changing nation through extraordinary real-life footage seen on our screens over the last 60 years. From our changing attitudes to fashion and the food on our plates, pop music and the weather, our homes and our hobbies, the series features rare and forgotten footage often not seen on television since it first aired on ITV, in many cases decades ago. Put together, the clips – largely from news items and documentaries – paint an often quirky picture of how all of our lives have undergone an extraordinary transformation since ITV first hit our screens in 1955.

The Tyrant King (1968)
The Tyrant King follows three teenagers as they traverse London searching for an answer to a hidden secret. A quest fraught with drama and danger takes them to some of the capital’s most iconic landmarks and beyond (a reflection of the drama’s origin as an adventure story published by London Transport), while the action is complemented by an atmospheric contemporary soundtrack featuring, among others, Pink Floyd, The Nice, Cream and The Moody Blues. This six-part mystery thriller was Thames Television’s very first production. Shot on location on 16mm film, it was effectively an experiment to assess the feasibility of a small-scale production unit within the company – a subsidiary that would eventually become the legendary Euston Films, responsible for a string of phenomenally successful dramas including The Sweeney and Minder.

Bognor or Bust (2004)
Bognor or Bust was a 2004 UK television panel game, on the subject of news and current affairs. Produced by 4DTV for ITV, the show conventionally gave contestants the opportunity to win prizes, yet was comedic in style. It combined members of the public and celebrities on the same panel. The show was hosted by comic actor and presenter Angus Deayton. His hosting of this show was largely viewed as his next step after being ousted from Have I Got News For You. Designing the style of the show to be similar to that of HIGNFY may have been deliberate. Before the game began, the two contestants picked two out of a group of four celebrities to play on their team. In Round 1, Deayton asked a series of questions on the week's news, to be answered on the buzzer. At the end of the round, there was a quick recap of the scores. For the End of Part 1, the viewers were shown a picture with something missing, and were asked to guess what it is during the commercial break. In Part 2, the missing object was revealed and Round 2 commenced. The player in the lead chose one of two pictures that served as cryptic clues to a certain category. The team then had to answer a succession of quick-fire questions within that category in a time limit. Afterwards, the process repeated with the other team and the other category. At the end of Round 2, the player with the most points proceeded to the final round.

The Symphony of Sorrowful Songs (1993)
A landmark and multi-award winning film by Tony Palmer celebrating the Polish composer Gorecki. Palmer's film 'The Symphony of Sorrowful Songs' with soprano Dawn Upshaw and the London Sinfonietta conducted by David Zinman, captured imaginations with its overwhelming power and harrowingly simple lyrics. The Symphony actually dates from 1976 when Górecki was (as he tells us in the film) a 'non-person' in the political sense, when his music was banned in his native Katowice in Poland. Melvyn Bragg showed the film on The South Bank Show, and even managed to persuade the hierarchy of ITV that it would be an abomination to disrupt the film with any commercial breaks. The 53 minute film was shown uninterrupted, an acceptance perhaps of the urgency of its content. "I wanted to express a great sorrow", Górecki says. "The war...the rotten times under Communism...our life today...the starving. What madness! This sorrow, it burns inside me. I cannot shake it off".
