60 Minutes, an Australian version of the U.S. television newsmagazine 60 Minutes, airs on Sunday nights on the Nine Network and is presented in much the same way as the American program on which it is based. The New Zealand version of the show has also featured segments of the Australian version. Gerald Stone, the founding executive producer, was given the job by Kerry Packer and was told: "I don't give a f... what it takes. Just do it and get it right." After the first episode was broadcast on 11 February 1979, Packer was less than impressed, telling Stone: "You've blown it, son. You better fix it fast." Over the years, Stone's award winning 60 Minutes revolutionised Australian current affairs reporting and enhanced the careers of Ray Martin, Ian Leslie, George Negus, and later Jana Wendt. Since it was first broadcast, 60 Minutes has won five Silver Logies, one Special Achievement Logie, and received nominations for a further six Logie awards.

The Flying Doctors is an Australian drama series produced by Crawford Productions that revolved around the everyday lifesaving efforts of the real Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia. It was initially a 1985 mini-series based in the fictional outback town of Cooper's Crossing starring Andrew McFarlane as the newly arrived Dr. Tom Callaghan. The success of the mini series led to its return the following year as an on-going series with McFarlane being joined by a new doctor, Chris Randall, played by Liz Burch. McFarlane left during the first season and actor Robert Grubb came in as new doctor Geoff Standish. The series' episodes were mostly self-contained but also featured ongoing storylines, such as Dr. Standish's romance with Sister Kate Wellings. Other major characters included pilot Sam Patterson, mechanic Emma Plimpton, local policeman Sgt. Jack Carruthers and Vic and Nancy Buckley, who ran the local pub/hotel, The Majestic. Andrew McFarlane also later returned to the series, resuming his role as Dr. Callaghan. The popular series ran for nine seasons and was successfully screened internationally.

It was based on the successful Stars in Their Eyes in the United Kingdom. Contestants were introduced and then whisked away to be transformed into the star of their choice. They would emerge for their performance, supported by dancers, a choir and an orchestra. Contestants were judged on their performances by Doug Mulray and Vanessa Amorosi. The Singing Bee is an Australian game show which is based on the original American version of the same name. By combining karaoke singing with a spelling bee-style competition, contestants have to sing lyrics to songs without making a mistake or risk being eliminated immediately. The show premiered on Sunday 7 October 2007 on the Nine Network, which has ordered the production of an initial eight episodes. Its recording location is in Richmond, Victoria at the Nine Network's GTV-9 studios. The Singing Bee will follow the basic rules of the American version of the show but some rule changes have been made for the Australian version. On 22 March 2008, it was announced by the Nine Network that The Singing Bee is going back into production for a second season, with filming set to take place after the 2008 logies. Tim Campbell took over as host from Joey Fatone. The new season premiered on the Nine Network at 8.30pm on Thursday 10 July 2008. The Nine Network has confirmed that The Singing Bee would return in 2009.

Celebrity Circus was an Australian reality television series which aired in May 2005 on the Nine Network. The show took celebrities and, with the help of Silvers Circus, trained them into circus acts. In the final show the celebrities performed in front of a live crowd and showcased what they had learned. It was shown over five one-hour episodes and was hosted by Bud Tingwell. Various skills include "high-wire, flying trapeze, knife throwing, fire juggling and clowning. Even better, they will be trained in two events called the Human Cannon and the Wheel of Death". The participants were: actors Cameron Daddo and Kimberley Davies; former Home and Away star Dieter Brummer; Celebrity Big Brother winner Dylan Lewis; Australia's Funniest Home Video Show host Toni Pearen; Vadim Dale and his fiance, Natalie Franzman; Olympic beach volleyball gold medallist Kerri Pottharst; and Ricki-Lee Coulter from Australian Idol. The first episode, which aired on 1 May, was placed in the top ten of the ratings for that week. The series appeared in the Portugal on TVI in 2006 as Circo das Celebridades. On 11 June 2008 an American version began airing on NBC.
